Sweetness: Boutique Wedding Cakes
Launched in 2012, London based Sweetness is run by pastry chef Roma Finlinson. Roma has always loved the artistic nature of sugar flowers and cake design. She enrolled at Cordon Bleu where she trained in French patisserie with the goal of marrying both her passion of sugar artistry with the quality and flavour of classic French patisserie.
Sweetness provides wedding cakes, mini cakes, fondant fancies, cupcakes & cookies. They specialise in wedding cakes with exquisite sugar flowers and bouquets. Their products stand out among similar products in the market due to their intricate, beautiful sugar flower bouquets. Their products have a delicate, romantic look to them with a vintage feel. All their cakes & confectionery are handmade to order so have a taste synonymous with classic French patisserie ensuring they taste as good as they look.

Using the finest of ingredients, from free range eggs to Belgian couverture chocolate and organic fruit and fillings wherever possible ensures the high standards of their cakes and confectionery. Sweetness commits themselves to a limited number of orders ensuring enough time is dedicated to each individual order so a high standard of attention to detail is maintained.
Roma tells us "My goal is to make a couples’ wedding cake dreams come true. I remember how important my wedding was to me and all the months I spent planning every detail of the day so I believe every couple deserves the very best on their wedding day. The cake is such a big part of the wedding day it should be a piece of edible art that takes your breath away and tastes as good as it looks."

A word from Sweetness
What service can couples expect?
"Couples can expect a very personal & professional service. Roma is involved in every aspect of each order from the initial consultation & design to the baking and decorating. We take the time to get to know the couples and understand their vision of their day. That way, we ensure that all their lovely cakes & confectionery receive the attention to detail they deserve & reflect the style of the couples wedding perfectly."
What advice can you offer couples when sourcing their wedding cake supplier?
"Spend time to think about the style of your wedding and look around for a supplier you think can express your vision for your day. I would recommend booking a consultation with any potential cake suppliers as you should taste their cakes. You also need to feel comfortable discussing any designs and ideas you may have with your designer as they are entrusted with such a big part of your wedding day."

What are the latest wedding cake trends you are seeing?
"Vintage is big for 2013 with pastel and ivory shades being popular. The look is a delicate, romantic look. Handcrafted flowers are still very popular as they can be crafted to match the colours and style of any wedding."
When should a couple order their wedding cake?
"Order your cake as soon as possible. Wedding cake designers get booked up well in advance during the summer months which are the peak of the wedding season. Cakes should be booked at least 3 months in advance which ensures you get a booking with the designer of your choice but also that you have enough time to collaborate with your designer to create the cake of your dreams."
How important is the wedding cake?
"Very important. The wedding cake is the focal point of the wedding reception. The cutting of the cake is an essential part of wedding tradition. It’s an important memory of the day which your guests get to share with you as they eat the cake as well."
